For the Lost in Space Project, for Computer Science, I created a Scratch game from nothing. Scratch is a free programming language and online community where you can create your own interactive stories, games, and animations. With Scratch, you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations- and share your creations with others in the online community. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively -essential skills for life in the 21st century. In my case, I created a game based on my scenario: You just received your letter from the International Nautical Society and have been chosen to compete in the single person sailing race from California to the Cook Islands. Everything is smooth sailing until you sail south of the Equator and crash the boat beyond repair on a shoal. You see the small island in the distance and you must swim through the shark infested waters to see if it is inhabited. The requirements were to have 5 sprites, one of them being myself and another the artifact I made in Regina’s, 3 backgrounds, 5 sound clips, and user input, the user using computer keys or using user motion from the webcam. I included all of the above and received a 4 in accountability and a 4 in content. But that was after resubmitting after spring break. If I were to do this project over again, I would definitely take the time to check my code for any mistakes.
