For the Be Heard Project for English I wrote and performed my song or poem. The title of my song was "A Typical Day of School." The reason I chose to write and perform a song or poem about this is because I experienced it first hand when my younger brother and I attended different elementary schools. There are a handful of requirements I needed to include in my song or poem. First, my chorus was "It’s the first day of school. And summer is now over. No more long trips to the pool. A place you go in order to learn. And the biggest obstacle, for some of these kids, is getting into the “fun” of school" Second, my introduction or beginning was "Before school, she goes to tutoring for an hour. Her school offers that just like ours. Working with her math tutor on powers. Walking to her honors class of the day. Working hard for that test in May. Weekends working hard on essays. Her GPA will definitely be praised. Waiting in line for hot lunch. Her stomach growls Skipping meals is foul. Lunch ladies coming in the clutch. These meals seem like a little too much. During lunch, she stays going to clubs. The clubs always have little seating. At the beginning of the class. she’s in charge of greeting. After lunch she walks to her last honor class of the day. There she works with the friend named Jose. In class, they elaborate on displays or surveys. Their work normally takes them days and days. But they’re able to finish fast with haze. After school, she has practice. It’s either for sports or how to become an actress. She finishes her homework and studies on her mattress. Before her night job as a waitress. Like a sponge. Always absorbing knowledge." Third, my conclusion or ending was " Now she’s waiting for school to start outside of the gate. She walks slowly to her first period of the day. There she sits in the back of the class in order to get away. A substitute teacher is in the room just for pay. So all she does during class is just play. She skips the line because she can’t get lunch. The money in her school account isn’t that much. Besides, the school lunch has a pretty bad crunch. She’d rather wait for dinner at home to come in the clutch. Instead of eating, she chills with a group of friends. They either sit at the lunch tables or play on the field, it all depends. She normally has lunch detention but she doesn’t attend. She never wants lunch to end . Once lunch ends, she walks to her last period of the day. This time instead of laying, she’s on her phone to play. The teacher doesn’t care and doesn’t try to take it away. All the teacher does, for the entire class, is just boringly say and display. After school, she can’t wait to get home. She calls it her sanctuary and dome. By herself, all she does is just roam. She doesn’t study or take notes for his homework about Rome." Fourth, I had 16 stanzas and three choruses. Fifth, my song or poem was nominated for a music video which we finished.
